Making his acting debut in the 1992 film Sradhanjali, he rapidly ascended to become one of Ollywood's most prolific and bankable stars. With an extraordinary filmography encompassing over 300 films, 280 of which feature him in the lead role, his commanding on-screen presence and versatility have defined a generation of regional cinema. Widely celebrated as one of the most decorated actors in Odia film history, Mohapatra holds an unprecedented record of winning seven consecutive Odisha State Film Awards for Best Actor from 2000 to 2006. He entered the political arena in 2009 by joining the Biju Janata Dal and successfully served two consecutive terms as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for the Berhampur constituency. Following his impactful 15-year tenure with the BJD, he transitioned his political affiliations and officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2024.
