Wageesha Salgado began her acting journey at a young age, initially participating in school stage dramas and the State Children’s Drama Festival, where she received numerous awards and certificates. Before entering the acting industry, she was trained as a singer, but her career took a different direction after she was cast in a commercial as a child. Her involvement in school theatre eventually led her to pursue acting professionally.

She made her television debut in the ITN teledrama Eliya Kanda, portraying the second daughter of a family. Her film debut came with Thaala, where she had the opportunity to work alongside several veteran actors. She has since appeared in five films, ten teledramas, around 30 commercials, and four music videos.

Wageesha was nominated as a Young Upcoming Child Actress at the Presidential Awards in 2018 for her performance in 5 Samath. She has also received five nominations as a Popular Actress at the Sumathi Awards and Raigam Awards.

In addition to acting, Wageesha began her television presenting career at the age of 11, working with ITN and Sirasa TV. She continues to work as a television presenter alongside her acting career. She is also trained in both traditional Sri Lankan and Western dance.

Wageesha has continued to explore her passion for music as a singer and songwriter, releasing several songs and contributing her own lyrics. Since 2023, she has been developing music as a major part of her career alongside acting and television presenting.
