Mostly used for supporting roles, with the exception of a starring role in Haydns letzter Besucher (1939). The sound movie didn't constitute a problem for the experiences theater actor and he continued his successful career with Alfred Hitchcock's "Mary - Sir John greift ein!" (1930).
